We woke to a beautiful, calm and somewhat cool morning. We had an extremely relaxing morning. Ray and Lesley put the finishing touches on their vows. Eric and I put our finishing touches on our words as officiants. I was so happy that we had made today a simple ceremony with only Lesley and Ray's closest American friends. It gave us all the chance to remain calm and enjoy the day.
Guests started arriving around 1pm. We all enjoyed rum punch and appetizers. At around 4pm Lesley and Ray decided they were ready to tie the knot. Becca, Lesley and I escaped into my bedroom to get Lesley changed and ready to go.
The sun was out in full force and the lake had not emptied out as much as we had expected but we were good to go. We were all so focused on what was happening in front of us, that nothing else mattered. The ceremony went off without a hitch.
We had an amazing little celebration after the ceremony. The food was delicious. There was plenty of champagne. We enjoyed good friends and lots of laughter. Ray and Lesley looked so happy.
A huge rain storm moved through just after 9pm and broke up the festivities. This was actually a blessing. It made for an amazing sunset and we needed to get to bed at a reasonable hour so we could get up at 4am and get to the airport. We are all heading out on the honeymoon together. Our flight to Boston was at 8am. We are spending two weeks touring around New England.
Please excuse the number of photos. It was a momentous occasion.
Love you Lesley and Ray. We wish you a long and happy marriage,
Karen Fitzgerald
