Lesley and Ray visit us every other year during their winter which is our summer. Every visit we try to take a side trip to a new region of the US. We discussed many options for this years road trip/adventure. I tossed out the idea to spend a couple of weeks touring around New England. So here we all are on the honeymoon. We were all up early and out the door just on time by 5am. Our flight to Boston was on schedule and easy.
Our friend Bart flew up from Florida to meet us for the trip. Eric ran off to pick up our rental van while we waited for our bags and Bart. After everything was gathered, we piled into the van and headed towards New Hampshire. After a stop at the store for groceries and wine , we arrived at camp just in time for dinner.
Eric's family has property in New Hampshire that has been in the family for nearly 100 years. There are a few cabins and buildings and a lake with a dock. There is a big field with a fire pit. The best part is all the family history and all the antiques. Nothing much has changed there since 1925.
We were joined by Eric's parents, Eric's Brother Alex and his wife Melanie and their Foster, Eric's Sister Cindy and her two kids, Henry and Hannah and Sister Amanda. So far it's a very romantic honeymoon for 14. We did manage to get Lesley and Ray into their own little cabin, which we dubbed the honeymoon hut for the weekend.
We had a really fun weekend with lot's of big family meals and even more laughter. We spent time at the lake, played games and sat by the fire. It was fun to see everyone.
On Monday morning we packed up camp and headed out to Woods Hole, Massachusetts to catch a ferry to Martha's Vineyard. On our way we drove through Harrisville, an old mill town. We also stopped at Coll's Farm in Jaffrey to re-stock our fruit and veggie supply. We will be staying with Eric's parents on Martha's Vineyard until Saturday morning.
