We woke up
to the sound of rain and rain was forecast for most of the day. Owen &
Geraldine were due at 17:00 and all we had to do prior to that was ready the
boat and do some shopping. During the early part of the day, as it was raining
so heavily, I caught up on blog-writing and Julie cleaned the interior of the
boat. Later, at around 11:30, the rain had more or less stopped so we readied
ourselves for the 10 minute walk to the shops. As we emerged, hobbit-like from
the boat, we were hailed by an approaching yacht and we were surprised to see
that it was John Hawthorne and Brenda Butcher on Bunny Bee, fellow rally
attendees. Just like us, they were coming here to Kastrup as they had visitors
arriving too. We directed them to the best area to moor their boat and as they
were passing, they told us that Gavin & Terry Goudie on Hexotic, an Arcona
40, were also doing the same. We’ve not seen the Goudies for a couple of years
and now would not be the best time to catch up as we would all be busy with our
visitors. Anyway, we left John & Bee to it and went shopping.
An hour
later, on the way back, we bumped into the Goudies. As they will be in Fehmarn
towards the end of this month we didn’t talk for more than a few minutes but it
was nice to see them again. After lunch, we cleaned the outside of the boat and
filled the tanks with water and then it was time to go to the airport to meet
our guests. Kastrup is so close to the airport that it is a 50-50 choice
whether to walk or catch the metro but we opted on the latter, figuring that we
would be using it to come back anyway and the tickets are timed tickets, so you
can do the return trip for the price of a one way ticket. Their flight was on
time and by 18:00 we were back on the boat and enjoying a beer, now in
beautiful sunshine. It was lovely to see our oldest friends again and we
enjoyed a lamb & chickpea curry and carried on chatting until at 20:00, it
was time for bed.
