Not a lot to report day

Mariehamn, Aland, Finland
It was a breezy, drizzly, cool grotty sort of day. Not really a day to set off to see the wonders of the islands, so we decided to stay put. Not a lot to report, we cleaned the boat in the morning, went to look for the damaged power boat (unsuccessfully) and during the afternoon, I found a better wifi site than the pathetic one available in the harbour, (at one time, after at least 15 minutes of aborted attempts to connect, I finally succeeded to get download speeds of 300 bytes a second!) in the local library, so I was able to update the blog. That's really all there is to report on this rather dreary day – mind you, even our dreary here in the Ålands seems better than the truly awful weather that the UK is experiencing. I wonder whether any additional money will be forthcoming to enable researchers to begin to understand the Jet Stream and its’ effect on our weather? As I understand it, it is significantly further south than usual and is almost locked in position so that rather than having air from the warmer parts of the Atlantic, we are experiencing cool, wet airstreams from the North, hence the grotty conditions and sadly, most forecasters are predicting that this situation is to remain with us for the remainder of the summer. Wonderful.
