Today was laundry day and both machines were hard at it as soon as the facility was unlocked, which was 08:00. It's funny that there is no accepted standard for the hire of washing machines in marinas. It varies from free to very expensive, with charges levied per machine and free drying ,or charges for both or in this case, the hire of the room, with 2 of each washers and dryers, for a block of time which was 3 hours, for 50 SEK (under £5.00), which was very reasonable.

Once drying was done, we were able to leave and we were on our way by 11:45 . I bade farewell to our chatty and friendly neighbour, who was sailing with her husband and young daughter. She was an accountant, working for KPMG and was born and raised in Russia, specifically Kaliningrad, the isolated little pocket of Russia that is on the Baltic and which we had to detour miles out to sea to avoid inadvertently entering their space, as we travelled from Poland to Lithuania last year. Anyway, she was fascinating, as her dealings tend to be with Russian companies, specifically with mergers and acquisitions. Apparently, what you imagine goes on in these companies actually does, only ten times worse! Illicit accounting, bribery etc etc. Not nice.

What was nice was the weather, apart from the fact that there was little wind and what there was, was in our faces so we used the engine, as we weren’t travelling far, about 9 miles, our destination was originally going to be further away but given the wind, we decided on a short hop and we settled on an anchorage on the island of Nämdö.

We were there and in our anchor by 13:45 and spent the afternoon reading and sunbathing, very pleasant too. That evening we had aperitifs on deck and then I barbecued some marinaded pork and very tasty it proved, for a commercially produced product. Later on, I was excited to hear and briefly see a seal as it sounded near us, sadly Julie was below and missed it. A nice day, apart from worrying about the house, we had anticipated closure around now so emails were sent, to ascertain what, if anything was going wrong.
