And then it Rained

Figeholm, Kalmar, Sweden
It is now a month after our contracted completion date for our house sale and matters still haven't been concluded but we are told it is now a matter of days – we certainly hope so. These sorts of thoughts filled my head in the early hours after having been woken by the strong wind and the rain and lastly, the anchor dragging alarm. This is set off when the boat’s position moves more than a certain amount which in our case, I set for 40 yards. Now there were 30 metres of chain out, so the boat hasn’t got to move too far beyond this to set off the alarm and having checked our position and reset the alarm on the GPS, I was pretty sure that we were OK. Not sure enough to sleep soundly again though, so I was quite tired after this, another disturbed night’s sleep.

It was a totally grey day but at least the wind had eased, now blowing at a F2-3 but still from the west . We were off and away soon after 09:30 and were able to sail, at least at first but slowly the wind died and we had to resort to the engine. Today we wanted to revisit one of our favourite little harbours, Figeholm, which we called in at with Jeff & Greta on 29th May.

We arrived at this lovely, clean little harbour at 14:30, having covered 25 miles and decided to put the cockpit cover on, as rain was imminent . Indeed, it started to pour down within two minutes of our completing the task – what timing!

That evening, we had an excellent moussaka prepared by Julie, accompanied by a bottle of retsina, brought all the way from Germany.
