We're now pretty much in the wind-down stages of this year’s trip and the same applies to the blog. In fact I have decided that once we return to Burgstaaken on Fehmarn and we’re back at base, there is little point in continuing, I will summarise the last week in a final entry on or about 2^nd September. Until then, on with the blog but there is not a lot to report.

Andy & Pauline left at around 10:00, their plan was to go just around the corner to the next harbour up the coast and where we intend to go too, namely Grömitz . As it happened, they got such good winds that they decided to continue an additional 20 miles or so and ended up in Heiligenhafen, very close to Fehmarn.

It was quite a pleasant sunny day and we planned on doing not very much, some washing, some shopping and a walk during the afternoon. This is really a very nice harbour. It is interesting, with lots going on and it is has a nice mixture of industrial and commercial property, with cafes, restaurants and bars on the waterfront. It is also inexpensive (€15/night) with lovely clean facilities and with free wifi, in fact they provide you with a week’s access to the ubiquitous Lan-1 network, ubiquitous in that every marina hereabouts provides it. The joy of this is that it works in all Lan-1 hotspots, so when we move on, our ability to access the internet travels with us. All of these positive benefits meant that it was a nice place to do very little in, which we are now very good at.

We decided upon a walk during the afternoon but we had left it too late, as the clouds had gathered and it started spitting with rain, curtailing our exercise as we’d come out without coats. Next time we come, we will walk northwards past the bridge and round the lake on the other side, it looks like a pleasant walk.

That evening was the first non-social one for over a week and I must confess, we enjoyed a couple of hours watching downloaded TV programmes; we are currently into the Wallander serial that is being shown, which isn’t the best thing to watch just before going to bed but there you go.
