Delhi to Rathambore via Agra

Rathambhore, India
Sunday 22nd February - left Delhi for Agra. Thought we were leaving the hustle and bustle behind but no such luck. Agra was much the same. Shanty towns all the way with people galore everywhere we looked. Stopped at a marble temple in Mathura where a very nice man showed us round and explained beautifully what he and the temple were all about. Next stop the Taj Mahal (not the restaurant but the real thing !). Every bit as beautiful (and more even) than any picture.

Lots of camels with sugar beet aboard not to mention rickshaws with 15 people on board . Loads of wedding cars on the road to Agra. Delhi belly has kicked in for Sue but I'm ok.

Monday 23rd Feb - Agra to Rathambhore Game Reserve. Quick stop at the Agra Fort and a mosque and palace at top of a big hill. Long drive through country area of Rajastan so a lot less hetic than previous days. Went to local restaurant where family were celebrating son's 1st wedding aniversary. We were invited to join the celebrations and had some cake which was very SWEET. Nice to 'mix' with the locals properly instead of just in tourist areas and shops !

Tuesday 24 Feb - Rathambhore Game Reserve. Early start to see the tigers and lo and behold we didn't see any. Lots of deer, monkeys, birds and wild boar and (brave) Indian people just wandering around ! The bait didn't seem to work though!
