Mauritius is lush and tropical - and hot and humid

Port Louis, Mauritius
I had a great time on my 3 days of game tours - and I did manage to see Africa's Big Five (Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Hippo and Leopard) Thanks to Isaac, the best game tracker/guide ever. I even saw a Jaguar sleeping under a bush. I met wonderful Kenyans, ate very well, and took tons of pictures - It truely was an experience of a lifetime.

And yesterday, I arrived safely in Mauritius. It was Sunday, and most Mauritians were still celebrating the New Year, so no internet conncection. Today I have been attending the conference, and I am finally in the lab.

Mauritius is very much like the humid side of a Hawaiian island - lush vegetation and flowers, and green hills. I am staying at a hotel in the capital of Port Louis, and I met some conference attendees and we dined together last night at Tandoori Express on the waterfront.

Right now I am off to start the afternoon sessions - I will write again soon. Diane
