I like to get a feel for what it is like to live like a local and part of that experience involves staying in different neighborhoods around a city - so yesterday I moved, and changed over to the Hong Kong side. I am in a 9th floor tiny apartment in a really small bedroom, but it has a great view looking down. (See the photo I took this morning). The apartment has a doorman who greets me. When I walk out the front I am in a much more upscale neighborhood with hipster bars and restaurants. And also alley restaurants.
This is definitely not Kowloon. And I learned that this is the side of Hong Kong where the ex-patriots are living - those young British, Australian, American, etc banking and finance types whose companies have moved them to this side of the world to manage other people's money. So let me show you some street scenes of where I am walking around, and tell this bustling neighborhood story through my (I'll-try-to-do-it-justice) lens.
And then later, let's go out to dinner.
