I have been slowly moving south through Vietnam - So I left Hanoi and flew to Hue, which is another World Heritage Site, due to the Nguyen Dynasty building an Imperial City there in the first half of the 1800s. 3 Emperors created this amazing city-within-a-city, and employed thousands to build palaces, reading rooms, gardens, ceremonial temples - over 20 buildings, of which about 5 have been restored for the public to see.
I have included some photos of my walk through history - it was really an amazing site to visit.
And I liked staying in Hue. It was much less frenzied and more walkable, and I stayed in a very centrally located hotel. I was able to wander around at night over the weekend, because Pedestrian Walks were nearby and lots of sightseers were walking around. I did find a pub where a soccer game was going on (Man U and Huddersfield) so that was entertaining:)
Let me publish this and let you know I left Hue and took the train to Da Nang, and then caught a taxi with a nice German couple, and I have arrived at my beach resort in Hoi An. I like it here, very much, and I will show you why, soon. Happy travels to you all.
