Quite simple really.. twins went away to "schoolies" and I took the opportunity to cash in some frequent flyer points and bought myself a ticket to Fiji... for a long weekend! haha. Well, it's only 4hrs from Sydney.
So briefly, the accommodation was unremarkable . Tried a dorm for the first time and it was fine.
I'll be honest and say I'm not a fan of the fiji resort style holiday. I went there purely for the scuba diving..which was beautiful!
Saw my first sharks and they took my breath away, The word which came to mind at the time was "majestic". Scared..just a little.
My diving instructor was a bit of a tosser and way more concerned about trying to pick up a young Canadian hottie than he was about doing buddy checks ! I'm learning as I go that not all dive shops are as thorough as Sairee Cottage. Not all instructors as good as my hero Chris.
Nice little break. Good diving experience. Had a moment on the trip back, while waiting alone on the side of the road, in the middle of nowhere,for the local bus to take me to the airport when I felt the travelling high. The thrill of the adventure. The risks and the relief of a bus turning up when there is no set timetable. The wonder of going off the beaten path and the small voice inside me insisting that this is where I should be.
