Day Trip to Windsor Castle

London, England, United Kingdom
This morning was damp and chilly, but we continued with our plans to visit Windsor Castle.  Luckily my cold was much improved, thank goodness.
We caught the train to Windsor from Paddington Station, there was a very quick change at Slough and we arrived at Windsor Central Station.  It was an easy few minutes walk through the drizzle to the Castle.
We enjoyed our day, I particularly enjoyed the Doll’s House as when I had visited as a child, it was always summertime and the queues were too long for my father to put up with!  One of the many good things about winter travel is the lack of crowds.  We also got to visit the State Apartments and St. George’s Chapel, which of course will be the setting of this year’s Royal Wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan.
After finishing up at the Castle, we found a local pub, The Three Tuns, for lunch.  G had a chicken korma and I had a delicious slow cooked lamb should with mash and vegetables.  Perfect food for a chilly day.
We returned by train and were back at the hotel for a drink in the lounge.  We then headed to Giotto’s Italian in Bloomsbury for dinner with S. & L.  Very good Italian food at a restaurant that we will return to.
