Koblenz, a Fortress and the Rhine Gorge

Koblenz, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany
We woke this morning to spectacular views of the lit up Ehrenbreitstein Fortress at dawn.  We had arrived in Koblenz.
After breakfast, we had chosen a walking tour of Koblenz.  Sonia, a lovely lady that we met on the cruise, joined us for the tour as her husband was doing the optional e-bike ride.  After our walking tour, we used our free time to take many photos of this beautiful place, especially Deutsche Eck and then we caught the gondola to travel over the Rhine River to the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress.  There were more magnificent views, both from the gondola and from the fortress itself.
After reboarding the Pearl for lunch, we then set sail for our afternoon in the Rhine Gorge.  Unfortunately, the weather was not our friend, and it was very grey, overcast and chilly.  We were determined to sit on the top deck, which we did for most of the afternoon.  This enabled us to get great views of each castle as they appeared.
Scenic provided an app that described the Gorge and each castle as they appeared.
For dinner this evening I chose a steak from their “always available” menu.  The steak was one of the smallest I have ever seen, luckily there is so much other food available that it did not matter.  Most of the food that we ate on board Scenic Pearl was acceptably good, but not great.
