This morning we flew to Vienna for the next leg of our
trip. We caught a taxi to the airport
and had an uneventful flight. We used a
prebooked transfer to get to the hotel, the Hotel Lamee. The company we used was Airport Driver.
As we were staying for six nights here, we had booked a
suite to give us more space. We were
lucky and were given probably the best of the four suites. The view was simply sensational, overlooking central
Vienna and St. Stephen's Cathedral The suite had a
large bedroom, bathroom, lounge room and two terraces to enjoy the view.
After checking in, we grabbed a quick lunch at a little cafe called Zanoni and
Zanoni, opposite our hotel.
The rest of the afternoon was spent exploring St. Stephen’s
Cathedral, Stephansdom, and purchasing our public transport tickets.
We returned to Hotel Lamee for pre-dinner drinks on the
terrace before our reserved dinner at Figlmuller.
Dinner was terrific, although as I still wasn’t 100% I
couldn’t really do the huge schnitzel the justice that it deserved. We both ordered the pork schnitzels, which
hung off of the plate, along with a green salad and a potato salad. We could easily have shared, there was so
much food.
A reservation here is totally essential. We saw huge lines and many, many people being
turned away.
After dinner we went straight back to our hotel for a good night’s
rest.
