Exploring Vienna

Vienna, Vienna, Austria
We woke this morning to yet another beautiful sunny day, Vienna is certainly turning on the good weather for us.  We had another quick breakfast at Zanoni and Zanoni to start the day.
We spent most of the morning walking and catching the tram around the Ringstrasse and looking at the magnificent architecture of Vienna.  We then spent some time in the Volksgarten, where we saw wonderful displays of amazingly coloured cheeses and other foods.  It appeared that they were setting up for Austrian National Day on October 26th.
Next stop was a long wander through the Naschmarkt.  We stopped for a delicious lunch here of grilled whole fish, filleted at the table, with tiny roast potatoes.  This was accompanied by a couple of glasses of white wine.  There is simply nothing better than eating fresh fish and a glass of white wine in the sunshine, people watching.
After finishing at the market, we walked back towards our hotel.  We decided to spend some time climbing St., Stephen’s Tower in the cathedral, since we hadn’t done when we visited earlier in the week.  There were spectacular views from the top.
Dinner this evening was at Café Landtmann, where me met up with our friends J and S who would be travelling with us for the next week or so.
We ate chopped steak and boned chicken, a few glasses of wine and lots of chat.
