Durnstein and the Wachau Valley

Vienna, Vienna, Austria
Another Joma breakfast this morning.
Today was a day where we decided to do different things from our friends S & J.  They wanted to explore other Vienna sites that they hadn’t had the chance to see, whereas we wanted to visit the little town of Durnstein on the Danube River.
We caught the ubahn to Franz Joseph Station, followed by a train to Krems.  The train was crowded with lots of cyclists.  This actually worked out well for us, as we chatted to them along the journey and when we got off of the train in Krems, they showed us where to catchy the Wachau bahn little train to Durnstein.  We would have wasted a lot of time attempting to find where it was without their assistance.
We first did a little wandering around the town before climbing up to Burgroyne Durnstein.  It was a much steeper climb than I expected, but we managed to get to the top for some stunning views of the Wachau Valley and the River Danube.  Well worth the effort.
We had lunch at the Durnsteinerhof, I ordered Pork Schnitzel and G had Bratwurst.  Both were very nice.
We caught the bus back to Krems and then the train back to Vienna.
Again the day ended with drinks on our balcony with S & J, followed by dinner at Puerstner, which was really good.  I had Pork Fillet with Pepper Sauce and Croquettes and G had Veal Cordon Bleu and we shared an Apfelstrudel for dessert.
