The Final Day, Hot Baths and Stunning Views

Budapest, Hungary
S and J flew home to Melbourne this morning, so G and I were alone once more.
We went on a long walk and climbed up to the Citadella at the top of Gellert Hill.  Like in many places here in Budapest, the views were amazing and again we took many, many photographs.
We stopped in at Gellert Baths for yet another photo opportunity.  This was a wonderful building and if we had more time stopping to bathe would have been great, but alas, time was running out and we had more sights to see.
We caught the metro back across the river to the Heroes Square area of the city.  We had a quick lunch of lepeny, which is a traditional toasted crunch Hungarian flatbread.  We shared a ham and cheese one and a Greek chicken one, both were delicious.
We explored Heroes Square with its magnificent statues and then walked all around the outside of Schezenyi Baths.  Sadly, like with Gellert, we did not have time for a bathe.  Something to do if we ever get to return to Budapest.
We returned to the river and again caught Tram No 2, which we seemed to have used a lot on this trip.  We headed in the direction of the Four Seasons Hotel where we explored the Christmas Market stalls that had already been set up.  We then went inside the Four Seasons for our traditional cocktail in a five star hotel that we try to do on all of our trips.
Finally, back to our own beautiful lounge before dinner.  I had made a reservation at a restaurant for our last night before we left home, but the restaurant messaged me to say that they couldn’t take credit cards.  We did not have enough Hungarian cash and didn’t want to withdraw more on our last day, so we asked the Concierge to recommend somewhere else.  She recommended Aszu so we went there.
I am so pleased that the venue for our final meal was changed as we absolutely loved Aszu.  The service was great as was the music and food.  We both had the Angus fillet steak with mustard mash and green beans and finished with chocolate mousse.
The next morning we had time for a leisurely breakfast and final views of the wonderful Danube before heading to the airport for our flight home to Melbourne.
