Kara had suggested that she pick me up at 9 am for our 12:30 pm flight . I did not object and then she blamed me for the time we spent waiting at the airport. Oh, well. I don't want the experience of running to the gate and having the plane door opened for me and then having the plane start moving as soon as I have sat in my seat....as once happened to me.

As it turned out, we were delayed because of the tropical storm and didn't leave Albany for Newark until almost 2 pm. When we got to Newark, even though we had our lunch of cherry tomatoes, cheese, crackers and olives in Albany, we had another snack of Chinese dumplings that were not dumplings. They were OK but not that great. Our flight from Newark to Athens left around 6 pm and we got another dinner on board. I had ziti - not my favorite but Kara liked her Thai chicken. They gave us a salted caramel ice cream for dessert - that made up for it. So much for my dieting for today.

Both of us were more tired than our activity thus far warranted but that is life. I read a little bit. Kara played some game on the screen. I think United has done more computer stuff with their new terminal or whatever at Newark. We had screens to order and pay for our food in the terminal restaurant and the gate had tables with computer screens to amuse oneself while waiting for the flight to leave. So the airplane screens had more options or maybe Kara found them while I never looked for them. I had all I could do to find the control for the reading light which was on a special drop-down menu on the computer screen accessed by the blue light in the center of the screen bottom.

After dinner,, we were glad when the lights dimmed and we could go to sleep or try to go to sleep. I must have slept a bit between fidgeting in my seat.

I am not sure exactly when I remembered being awake after a
not-so-comfortable night flying with United. It was still early and
some time before our breakfast treat. It wasn't so bad - a croissant
and coffee for me, OJ for KJK. We were scheduled to arrive at 10:35 am
or so and after an iphone pic of sunrise and bumpy clouds on the
horizon, we saw some land, some water, some islands before we landed.
