Part I: More Ancient Sites

Athens, Attiki, Greece
Kara and I were up earlier this morning and made it out before 10 am but we had a lot to pack in . We had another lovely breakfast with a table with an Acropolis view. Today I had a bowl of fruit too. All was good. We lingered a little and then headed out.
I thought perhaps we should do the outdoor things - to get the most from our Athens ancient site ticket and get better light than we would in the noonday sun. I think I heard Kara complain a bit about making her walk around in the hottest part of the day. We got to the Roman agora and saw the wind tower but the entire site was not that exciting. Then we headed for the Library of Hadrian site. There was a fenced in area right next to the Roman Agora that said it was the Library but we could not figure out how to get in. We ended up walking down to the park where there was no entrance into the Greek Agora and turning back and asking the ticket taker at the Roman agora where the entrance to the Library was. It turned out that I had misinterpreted her directions and that the site with library posted on it was apparently not attached to the library site that was open . We finally got there and got in. This particular site was multi-layered: there had been several churches built on the site on top of the original ruins. Even with the signs, it was hard to visualize what had been there through the centuries. There were some columns, some fallen ruins, some cats. Kara took more photos of the cats. We have certainly seen quite a few cats - more than the packs of dogs that one of the guide books warned about.
My next idea was to get a quick bite to eat or drink and go on to the Museum of Cycladic Art before we went to have lunch. We went to a very nice coffee shop with delicious pastries and even some nice looking pizza slices. Kara ordered an iced coffee. The system was confusing so I told her to order me one too rather than ordering something else from someone else. She didn't hear me so I had to order a nutella gelato instead. Both seemed good. We sat in the shade and looked at the map. We walked through Plaka and saw lots of shops, people and appetizing food in the shop windows.
