We went downstairs for breakfast.
The B&B owner Mark was taking orders. I am not sure what I was planning but I ended up with a full Welsh breakfast with no meat. I left the beans and later Marilynn had said she would have taken them but I didn't think of offering them to her. Shame on me. We had wanted to get a taxi but had no luck - two were unavailable, one not until the evening. There was something wrong with one of the others so it ended up that Mark left his breakfast and offered to drive us to Fishguard Market Square where we hoped to find a tourist info and a map of the trails Marilynn had read about. We went into the library and saw the famous tapestry of the Fishguard invasion in 1783. There was no other great info but we were directed to the Marine Walk since we were told that it would be necessary to have a car to get to the trailhead for the river valley walk.
We headed off down the hill trying to follow signs and maybe Marilynn's GPS. We saw one path heading down the side of the hill but decided to forego that one. We then saw a path along the seafront at the harbor that went back to Goodwich and that one we followed.
The trail then started up a steep street and we almost missed a turn because it was confusing - signs pointed toward the coast but signs also said private. Marilynn was headed up the hill, but a man was walking by and he confirmed that the trail did indeed go the way the sign pointed back toward the coast. We continued on and it was mostly paved and pleasant with shade and views and we found ourselves back in Goodwick. It was said to be 2.5 km or so from Fishguard Harbour to Goodwick. We had lunch at the Shack.
What did we do for the rest of the day? Now, after a few days, I am not sure. Maybe we had a dinner reservation? We might have wanted a taxi but I know we ended up walking back to the train station to change our train tickets. The station was near the restaurant. I think it was a good meal. Hopefully I have a few photos. We ended up being kind of leery of Mark because he would say he would do something and then not come through. I do remember going into the garden with Marilynn to do something. Oh, right, It was hard for her to get a cell signal inside the B&B.
