Packed and Ready to Go

White Rock, British Columbia, Canada
Good Morning

A great reprieve in the weather. It has been calling for showers but it is sunny at the moment in White Rock. Of course not necessarily so in Vancouver.  I do so want the afternoon to be bright and sunny when we sail out from the Vancouver Harbour under the Lions Gate Bridge on board the Celebrity Infinity.

At the moment across Vancouver last minute packing is happening. Garth and Lisa putting their must have electronics into their back packs and arranging for their cat to be looked after for the week; Gill making sure Charlie and Paige's clothes all match, and then remembering her own dresses and warm clothes; Brenda is on the ferry from Victoria to join us and Wayne is probably on the road to pick her up. He will have packed his black socks, sailing tee shirts and khaki pants in a matter of minutes no doubt. Sandra has her toes and nails newly painted ready to board the ship. And Alexandra is geared up to give them a ride down to the Cruise Ship Terminal.

Jean and Bert arrived here last night from Courtenay with their carry-ons, book bags and whale watching jackets.. And Gary and I packed this morning our usual travel duds, but this time taking a heavier rain jacket and umbrella for Ketchikan... always needed there.

Of the 12 of us just Gary, Paige and I have been on a cruise ship before. So I think folks are probably quite excited by now to start the adventure. Garth would have preferred a Plan B to celebrate our anniversary, but we couldn't think of an easier less hassle way of having a trip together for kids, grandkids, brothers sisters and so on.. Flying, renting cottages, going to a resort all involved more work it seemed to us. So a cruise ship it is.

i'll let you know how things go...Garth and Lisa are going to hunt for the crepe bar, Paige has to talk the pianist into playing for her while she sings us a song, Charlie thinks having room service will be just a wonderful experience and also has figured out the kids program has an x-box and games. He's cool with the cruise now. Everyone has a camera so we may have minute detailing of the trip unfolding!

Larry is doing his taxi service for Jean and Bert and Gary and me to the cruise ship today and pick up next weekend. Talk about gold stars piled up on his side of the ledger.

The Fairchilds and Tuppers are planning to stand at the bottom of 17th Ave in West Vancouver at 5:00 pm this afternoon to wave us off as we embark. Good thing I have a telephoto lens and binoculars. As do they!

Cheers
Doreen

Can't wait to give you a hearty send off from the pier later today! Getting aboard ship with all our 'stuff' in the stateroom is when I finally begin to relax & switch to 'shiplife.' Looking forward to your posts & photos!

I'm amazed you had time to write a blog entry on the day of departure. So many loose ends to clear up but then you are more organized than most. Wonderul idea to do a cruise with all the family.
