Had a fabulous day driving today from Satao to Vila Praia de Ancora. We set off early for us -9.30am!- and took the scenic route which took us through some very quaint old villages with friendly locals waving as we drove through. Downside is the cobbled narrow steep streets are not motorhome friendly but Giles did a great job of driving through safely and Herman intact !

We went through the stunning Douro valley and drove alongside the Douro river for a while and found a little parking spot to stop and have lunch . Landscape very pretty at this time of year with fields and mountains covered in broom and heather.

We were heading to a parking area by the castle in Guimaraes but the slope from the road to car park was too steep and we scraped the back end so reversed and went on our way. We stopped at Bom Jesus do Monte, Barcelos and Viana do Castelo to check out the free parking areas but weren't comfortable to stay in any of these so made it a lovely little site at 6.30pm at Vila Praia de Ancora. Tired and bit peckish but a great day seeing rural Portugal.
