To Atlanta

Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands
When we show up at the gate of the Mount Meru Hotel at 6:45 in the morning, I soon find out that our car 'troubles' are not over yet.
An extended Toyota Landcruiser should be delivered here for our Kenyan adventure, but nothing in sight.
After a while my phone rings. It's my Uganda contact, telling me there is a problem with the car. It's been confiscated by Tanzanian authorities at the border, because of an inconsistency in the administration of this car last year when it crossed the border.
But not to worry, a taxi will bring us to the Namanga border crossing, and another car is on the way from Nairobi to Namanga, so we have a car in Kenya.
At the reception I locate a man with my name on a piece of paper. He is confused, because I am not staying at the hotel.
After all confusion is cleared up, he follows mtoto and me to Dada's house, and after a heartfelt goodbye we board the shiny black taxi and head for the border of Kenya.
The trip is uneventful, except that our driver is quite negative about the current president. Corruption is rampant, he claims. The president has openly said that the bribes the police is asking are just small money for the police to shine their shoes. If that is true, it puts this president in a very different perspective. In my opinion, corruption must be fought relentlessly at every level. Otherwise the country is doomed.
At the border we find Isaiah with the replacement vehicle. As he has to return to Nairobi anyway, he offers to drive us. Since we are all tired, it's a welcome offer.
Soon I see that driving in Kenya is more aggressive than in Tanzania. And rules are less enforced.
We decide to go to the Carnivore, a restaurant known internationally for its meat. It doesn't disappoint. Austrich, ox, crocodile, beef, lam, chicken and turkey are all served continuously until you are satisfied. It takes almost two hours before we surrender.
Now a sad moment arrives, Chruus and Mariles will return to the Philippines. We on the other hand will go to the USA for four days, to attend the wedding of our niece in Atlanta.
Crazy schedule, I know...
We bring Chruus and Les to a hotel where they will stay until their plane departs in a couple of days. When will we meet again? And where?
Isaiah brings us to Jomo Keniatta International Airport where we wait for our plane to depart at midnight.
