Miltenberg Walking Tour

Würzburg, Bavaria, Germany
We sailed all night last night and as of 8:00 this morning we are still moving through the numerous locks on the Main River heading towards Freudenberg, Germany where we will take a bus to Miltenberg for a walking tour. According to what we have been told, Miltenberg is what you would think of visually as the perfect medieval German town’s architecture. We shall see this afternoon and you can be the judge. This morning on board we will be treated to a glass blowing demonstration in the lounge here on The Skadi. Should be interesting. As for John and I, we are so thankful today that we were able to “sleep in” for the first time on this trip! Stay tuned for our adventures today and please know that we are indeed reading all of the comments so please keep them coming!
Well…it appears John isn’t quite ready for the day yet, so I will give a few factoids…according to the information we have been given, “The Main River is unlike the Rhine, of which it is a tributary, the Main is not a superhighway in terms of river traffic. It veers off to the left or right, doubles back on itself and seems to be in no rush to get to its mouth in the German city of Mainz.” Another factoid is that we will go through over 30 locks today. John loves locks, but this many may be more than he bargained for! Factoid: the crew took two hours yesterday to collapse everything (including the wheelhouse) on the top sun deck to get us ready for the next few days of sailing under very low bridges. I plan to attack a screen shot of a picture we were shown yesterday that will show how very, very close the top of our ship will come to the bottom of the bridge! Another “Wowzer!” Mike! Also, as a matter of interest, our river cruise will cover over 700 miles! Yay us!
We ended up having a great day. As I write, our boat is traveling on the Main River heading to Würzberg which we will reach around 8:00 tomorrow morning. Hope you enjoy the pictures!
PS…for whatever reason, the two pictures of a castle after dark have ended up in the wrong time slot, and I can’t figure our how to move them! Just know they were the last two pictures taken today.

Well David would have loved the Fountain for sure. All the buildings look like Germany. I think that you are going to have a wonderful trip and see all kinds of interesting things and new adventures. I love all the pictures. Rest up because I know you will be very busy on this trip. London is very busy too. No resting in London for sure.
