Answer to a comment…we had noted that there were a huge number of St. Stephen’s church’s also, and thought it was strange. They are all named after Stephen in the Bible who was the first Christian martyr. I am not sure why there is such an affinity for Stephen, but yes, there are many churches with that name. I would have to look back and see, but there must have been one in almost all of the towns we have visited. Also, yes, this is a very big city. It is a little surreal with the juxtaposition of the very, very old with the ultra modern. Almost makes your head spin.
We slept in this morning which felt really good. After getting cleaned up we walked from the boat dock to the Tube station and rode the underground back to St. Stephen’s square. We came out of the station right in front of the cathedral and the delightful side walk coffee shop we enjoyed yesterday. It was fate for sure! We sat down in the shade and ordered more of the fantastic Viennese coffee, an omelet, a bagel, and a very flaky almond paste croissant! It was like being on a movie set with people from all over the world walking by us. NOW to put the topping on the ice cream, a saying my Mother always used came true. She always said, “No matter where you go, or what you do, someone who knows me will see and I will hear about it.” As we were finishing up our coffee, who should walk up and say hello but Linn and Karen Yaeger. You folks from Del Webb will know who I am talking about. They are on an Avalon Riverboat with the Painters if you remember them. Talk about a small world.
After wandering around the area close to the square for awhile, we headed back to the Tube and went back to our home away from home once again.
Tonight around 8:30 ish we passed through Bratislava in Slovakia. Beautiful views of the night skyline. Another beautiful weather day.

I’m glad you enjoyed Vienna. Ironically you saw more of it than we did even though we were there a week. But we loved it and on the last day Debbt, our dancing teacher and I, shopped til we dropped. Good times!

Pat your mother was right I am not surprised at all you saw someone you know because you know a lot of people from all your travels. The pictures are beautiful and I am glad you had such a nice leisure day together.

Nice Leisure Day! Going to the local coffee shop then cruising down the river with a new castle on every hilltop. And of course, going through another lock!
