Early morning on the Danube. We got up early this morning in order to watch the city of Budapest float by our longship. It was spectacular! Neither of us had any idea what to expect, and would never have imagined what we did see. Huge, very ornate building flowed by us at a serene pace. I don’t have the words to describe the place and hope the pictures give you a small idea of how awestruck we were.
We took a city tour leaving at 9:30 in a very nice bus and a good guide. We were given a comprehensive look at the Pest side (which is very flat) of the river Danube before driving over a bridge to the Buda side, which is quite hilly. We ended up at the Castle District where we left the coach and walked in that area with our guide. I am sorry, but this was a long day, so I will paste in some information from (where else?) Google.
Budapest, Hungary’s capital, is bisected by the River Danube. Its 19th-century Chain Bridge connects the hilly Buda district with flat Pest. A funicular runs up Castle Hill to Buda’s Old Town, where the Budapest History Museum traces city life from Roman times onward. Trinity Square is home to 13th-century Matthias Church and the turrets of the Fishermen’s Bastion, which offer sweeping views. ― Google
We had a very nice home going supper this evening. It is amazing how quickly you can make friends on a trip like this. The Captain said his farewells and gave us one particular note of interest. Our good ship Skadi was probably the last one to make it all the way through without having to change ships! I guess we were so lucky with the hot, sunny weather that the rivers have once again dropped their levels thus the forced boat changes,
This is our last night on board. Tomorrow we head for London. Stay tuned,

Great Pictures! That city has lots of history. I think it got spared from WWII from Hitler's girlfriend not sure it that was the city or if that was another city. Love the churches. Can't wait to hear about London that city is fabulous with Parks and lots of history too. The tube is great. Have a safe journey to London.

Budapest is great. I’m glad you enjoyed all your stops. I’m sure you enjoyed some more that others, and are ready to go someplace where they speak English. Kind of.
