Making more memories…our last day in London

London, England, United Kingdom
We almost couldn’t believe it, but we once again woke up to another gorgeous day in London.  In the low 50’s when we woke up and forecast to reach a very comfortable peak temp of 69! I suspect it won’t be that comfortable when we get back to Mt. Juliet tomorrow. However, we have this glorious day and we plan to enjoy it to its fullest.
We actually did two bucket list items today! Our first cab ride took us back to Westminster where we were able to snag immediate tickets to tour the Parliament Building! I wanted to do it the last time we were in London but Parliament was in session, thus no tours. We took about 2 hours using the provided earphones and box. I thoroughly enjoyed our visit. I am sorry that there are no pictures from inside the building, but they were not allowed. Google it for a better feeling for the building.
From Parliament, we hopped another cab (we are getting very good at this!) and headed to the British Museum which was another highlight. It is HUGE! It was also very busy with both tourists and locals meandering through the galleries. I did take some pictures there. The Egyptian area was fascinating and the British Museum has a special exhibition right now covering China…most interesting and wide ranging.
From the British Museum we walked a mile or so up Oxford Street to Selfridge’s department store. Some of you may remember the PBS series about the famous department store and its beginnings. It was REALLY fancy to walk into….lots of folks with lots of money all over the place! We bought some candy, took some pictures and then (what else?) hopped in a cab and headed back to the Hilton.
We are headed home tomorrow. Our trip has been outstanding but we have to admit, it will be good to get back into our own bed. I have especially missed my hair dryer. That sounds silly, but trust me on this one. I hate European hair dryers with the heat of 10,000 suns. Just saying...
We took a quick walk into Hyde Park…thought we ought to do so since our room overlooks the park! I clocked in 14,302 steps today.

What a great day - I sound like a broken record. I wanted to go to the British Museum, but your daughter voted for Buckingham Palace. Of course that was awesome. Next time, I’ll get to the museum. Safe travels!
