Since our main activity of today was to be this evening at the Hard Rock Casino, we slept in and took our time with breakfast and reading the news on our iPads. Laundry was first on our to do list...you always feel more in control when things are clean! I am here to testify, by the way, that today is a HOT one once again!
Leaving camp to do a little touring at 1:00, it was already 97 degrees
. As a note of interest...the roads we have been on in Oklahoma have for the most part been terrible. As I have pointed out in the past, what we are doing is actually carrying our "small house" around with us and when we get on rough roads, everything in it bounces, rattles, creaks, and generally makes you twitch. It doesn't take much of the noise to get on one's last nerve! At any rate, we elected to NOT go into the downtown because the closer we got, the worse the road was. Instead we drove to Woodward Park which is apparently much like Old Sequoia Hills in Knoxville...old money and big very well landscaped homes. I got a few pictures of one of the beautifully landscaped common areas...makes you drool just to look at them.
After touring around the Woodward Park area for a while, we drove closer to where our campground lies to have lunch at the White River Fish Market and Restaurant. It has been in business since 1932 and was highly recommended by the folks in the office at the campground as THE place to have fish
. Well, we figured it would be OK, but it was WAY beyond OK. It is a low key looking place...not one you would necessarily look at twice, but when you go inside, you realize that they are definitely in the fish business. I suspect they can seat 150 in the restaurant and they have a big carry out business for food and fresh fish also. We arrived mid afternoon so it wasn't crowded at all. We ordered a kabob of grilled sea bass, salmon, halibut,mahi-mahi, and tuna. It was wonderful...not sure when we have had better. Yum!
From the restaurant we headed to the Hard Rock. We are here a couple of hours before we need to be but we figured it would be easier to just set up in the back of a parking lot, run the generator to keep cool, and spend a low key afternoon. After while we will get cleaned up and dress up before walking over to the casino for supper and the show. This way we can see people go by and generally feel smug because our "small house" certainly has a different "big yard" this evening! There are definite advantages to making like a turtle and having your home with you!
After the show, we will drive back to the campground for the night. Tomorrow morning we will be heading eastward once again. Have to get back to the sweltering heat at DWLP at some point in our lives I guess...
So far today we have driven approximately 35 miles.
Slow day...Big Evening!

Well if it was 97 in Tulsa you are not going to feel worse here. It is to be 97 tomorrow and 99 Saturday so you're used to it, sounds like. It is very humid here today and warm...didn't stay at the pool very long at all. Hope you enjoy your evening with the play. That's pretty neat!

Yes the gardens you saw were beautiful and the house looked great very modern the way I like them. I am glad you gave us a hint of your next direction. It will be hot this weekend but hopefully when you get back the weather will start to cool off in September. We can only hope. I am going over to other Mom and Dad tonight to see how Jim is doing with his treatments and leg. I am hoping that I get good news. His pain has lessened since he got steroid shot a week ago. I want to see him with my own eyes first. I am glad you will have relaxing dinner out and play to watch and took a break from driving for a day. I think that is good to take breaks on the rode and I know you watch that closely. All is fine here so take your time and drink plenty of water in this hot weather and deep breathing as pastor Jacob would say. Bless you and safe travels going East Hay!!!! Lonesome Adoptive Daughter.
