I'm just sitting here waiting for the boat to Belize. Mexico has been sorta what I expected. Food and transport are dirt cheap, except the taxi mafia at Cancun airport and they are just ridiculous. Accomodation is also fairly expensive. I can get similar rooms in Asia for less than $20 but here they are around $40. The people seem friendly enough and the street food sellers are sooo cheap. I didn't like Cancun but that was more about where I stayed than the place itself. I don't like booking places off the net cos you get pics of other hotels and straight out lies about how close to the city etc.
The Maya ruins were all easy to get to and the busses were easy to navigate. One thing that struck me was the number of young girls backpacking. I think about 70% of all the backpackers were young girls. As always most of us are travelling the same way so you tend to meet up along the way.
Now I have a quick trip through Belize.
