On to Anchorage and Homer

Homer, Alaska, United States
I am starting this entry while waiting for our flight to Homer, so it will be edited the next time I have an internet connection.

We arose early this morning and made our way to BWI airport to board our flight to Minneapolis . The flight for the most part was uneventful, although we had one of the few window seats without a window, so my photos were taken through the window in front of me. Our flight did leave almost 45 minutes late but we ended up only being about 15 minutes late arriving. In spite of the fact that we had a straight through flight to Anchorage (same flight number) we had to change planes. We arrived at concourse G and had to get to concourse D. The Minneapolis airport is BIG. By the time we arrived at our new gate the plane was boarding. So much for lunch.

The flight to Anchorage was a 6 hour flight and again pretty much uneventful until we arrived at the gate. When the jet way was ready to be brought up to the plane it would not move. Fifteen minutes later they decided to move the plane to a different gate.

Once we left Baltimore we had cloud cover until almost into Minneapolis. West of Minneapolis we saw miles and miles of flat, snow covered ground. We finally got closer to Alaska we flew over miles and miles of beautiful snow covered mountains. We also flew over Malaspina Glacier which is the largest glacier in Alaska. As we landed in Anchorage Mt. Susitna, the sleeping lady, was in full view. Hopefully our flight to Homer will be just as smooth.
Our flight to Homer was smooth. The plane held about 20 people and there was a full plane. After claiming our luggage, we grabbed a cab, stopped at Safeway for breakfast foods and then on to our cabin. It felt good to finally be at our destination after traveling for about 16 hours.
