London, England, United Kingdom
The morning found us doing the final packing and securing the house for our journey to Europe and the Castles Along the Rhine and Danube River Cruise. After a quick lunch, we left about noon for the less than two hour trip to the Philadelphia Airport. I need to mention that for the past day and a half we have had torrential rains with some of heaviest rain occurring this morning. Our drive should have taken us up I-95 to the airport, but as we approached the entrance to the interstate, traffic was dead stopped, so we continued on to a parallel local road. We made steady progress along Rt 40 until about 20 miles up the road we were stopped. The road ahead was totally flooded. Fortunately we were familiar with the area and made our way to still a third route to the interstate. Finally on the desired road we encountered heavy traffic until we eventually reached the airport almost three hours from the time we left home.

The trip improved from that point on . Upon checking in with British Airways, we were treated to an upgrade in cabin location providing us with more room and a window seat. From the time we took off at 6:15 pm until we landed in London less than seven hours later, we were fed: first a snack, then dinner (lasagna with cheese cake for dessert), then beverages several times and finally a muffin just before landing. Oh, with our upgrade, wine was included with the meal.

The flight was very smooth, as we flew above the clouds that covered the ground below, including a beautiful moon following along out the window. We landed in London just at sunrise to beautiful sunny skies.

We are now to Monday morning, so I will end here and pick up our journey to Budapest, Hungary in Monday's blog.
