Along the Dirt Roads of Nevada

Tonopah, Nevada, United States
Still functioning on East Coast time, we were awake before the alarm went off. This gave us an early start to our day. We found that the local gas station had nice sandwiches for sale, so we picked up a couple of those for lunch since we knew there was not place to buy lunch until we got to Tonopah.

We had to make our way back to Rachel where we stopped caching yesterday to continue along the trail . At Rachel to took a little time to visit the Inn gift store and find a few caches in the area. The ET Highway is actually Highway 375 Today we encountered a number of cows grazing by the side of the road and had to stop for a young one to cross to the other side. There were also lots of little birds flying across the road and sitting on the road. We did a lot of dodge-um bird.

After leaving RT 375 we traveled along Rt 6 finding more of the trail caches. The trail, however, soon took us off the paved roads and on to the dirt roads of Nevada. We soon found that there are miles and miles of dirt roads here. They seem to be access to the local ranches and are open range roads so again we had to be on the lookout for cows along the roadway. By the time we finished for the day, everything was covered with a coating of dust. A variety of flora dotted the desert with yellows, pinks, oranges and whites.

After caching for ten hours, we decided it was time stop for the day and get some dinner and a place to stay for the night.

Tomorrow will find us once again out searching along the ET Caching Trail.
