Tiandong, China

Hey Hey and a Big G'Day to you

Man, what an awesome weekend.

For sometime now Mandy's Leader (Mr G we call him) had been asking me to visit Tiandong and visit several Primary Schools. Due to my contract with Buckland's I have always said no. The Headmistress of my school and Mr G are friends so I thought I would mention it to Owen and Jennifer. I was given the go ahead to do it once but not for money.

I doubled the price and Mr G agreed and the money went to Mandy and Yang Yang.

After school on Friday Mandy, Lilley and I grabbed a cab and headed to Tiandong. Ok, a short explanation. Mandy actually works for a company called Little Star English and our school contracts her along with Lilley, Sally and several others. We arrived in Tiandong about 45 minutes later and met Mr G. He took us to our hotel under the big clock tower and then we were off to visit the first 2 schools. Classes were fantastic! The kids went crazy! We jumped around like Kangaroos and crawled like Wombats.

We sang and danced, it was a heap of fun.

The evening was spent at KTV getting hammered with Me G whom was throwing beers down my throat quicker than most Chinese. The girls and their friends all sang like angels, or so it seemed as the night progressed and soon the drinking games began. I have no idea what time we all stumbled out of the KTV and headed back to the hotel rocking around in the back of a Tuk Tuk.

Up and out for a breakfast of noodle soup and fruit. Mr G then took us to a historical home/site. Something to do with the revolution. It was nice. It had photos and old weapons and so on and so on. It was then off to visit five more schools. Classes got better as the day progressed.

Or was it the fact that the hangover was wearing off?
The kids had a great time as did I.

Sadly the day was at its end and school was over. We said our good byes to Mr Gee and Tiandong and Mandy and I caught a cab back to Tianyang, had dinner and spent the evening walking and talking our way around the streets.

Beers N Noodles to you...shane
