Yangshuo, China
Hey Hey and a Big G'Day to you all

Today was a very sleepy day.

I was woken by members of CITS who wanted me to go on a boat cruise. Mate, I've wanted to go on this boat cruise for ages but have never gotten around to it. Today I'm woken and asked if I wanted to go after only three hours sleep. Sadly I said no and placed my head back where it belonged...upon the pillow.

I woke at 11:30am and after a quick shower I headed out to catch the bus to Salem's Lot. That is one thing I really do love about China. The mid day check out is one of the greatest things on this planet.

In the end you always seem to get enough sleep!

I arrived in Yangshuo around 1:30pm and found a little cafe to have Brunch in. I sat for about an hour and a half and read and drank coffee preparing myself for the events that lay ahead of me after the sun goes down here in Salem's Lot.

Finally I headed up to Buckland's where I received a warm welcome from all. It was great to see everyone again. They are such a happy team and great people. I was taken to my hotel room where I tried to fit in some more sleep. Just as I fell asleep my room buddy returned. We introduced ourselves and decided on dinner with some other Buckland's teachers.

On the way down town I said G'Day to a foreign guy eating noodles on the sidewalk. Then I took a second glance at the people he was with and bugger me, it was Mark and Kelly, The Londoners from a year and a half ago. There they were, white as ghosts with the London suntan with gleaming smiles. After a quick hug we planned to meet at MC Blues later that evening.

I took the other guys to my favourite from six years ago, the trusty King Fisher Cafe. Awesome food and great service. One of the guys was feeling ill and offered me his ticket to what was supposed to be an awesome light show. After dinner we grabbed a Golf Buggy and headed to the Lagoon. The lagoon had been made especially for this light show. I really didn't know much more than that. The park it in was also made for the show and once the show ended was to be turned into a Multicultural Park type thing. The show itself was created by the director of 'Hero' the movie. An awesome move and I was sure it would be an evening.

We found our seats and soon the lights went down. The performance was done entirely in the lagoon. Pathways were used along with boats and several hundred locals in the cast. The famous Yangshuo limestone karst peaks were used as the back drop. It really was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. I loved it so much, it reminded me of an Asian Fantasia. All too soon it was over and just as we were about to take the worthy advice of walking back to Yangshuo instead of waiting for hours for a golf buggy there was the Buckland's Golf Buggy waiting for us.

In luxury we headed back passing all the walkers with a wave and a smile. I headed down to 'the local', good old MC Blues where I caught up with Derrik, Mickey and the Londoners. It was a great meeting and soon the place was out of local beer. Sometime in the early morning we headed to the Market Place for more food and for some strange reason we stopped not far from Buckland's for road side noodles. I remember someone saying, Hey they have seats and a wok, they are sure to have beer! So we sat for more food and more beer!

Why, I have no idea!

If you are heading to Yangshuo real soon, make sure you put aside 100 Yuan and go and see Asia Fantasia. I don't know what it's really called but it really is worth it. Then spend another hundred at MC Blues and say G'Day to Micky for me!
