Can you speak Chinese?

Besides Mandarin, what do they speak in the Shangrao area?

Shangrao itself is at the very western edge of the Wu-speaking areas；
While most of its associated counties speak Gan.

GAN or alternatively Jiangxinese is spoken as the native language by around fifty million people in the Jiangxi province as well as in surrounding regions such as Hunan, Hubei, Anhui and Fujian. Gan is a member of the Sinitic languages of the Sino-Tibetan language family and Hakka is the closest language to Gan in terms of phonetics. Different dialects of Gan exist, some consider Gan and Hakka one language, 'Gan/Hakka', or a group of languages with Hakka and Cantonese, because there are many similarities among the three.

Yet others consider Gan an independent language because it is unintelligible with other Chinese languages.

WU or Suzhou Wu is one of the major languages in China and is spoken in most of Zhejiang province, the municipality of Shanghai, southern Jiangsu province, as well as smaller parts of Anhui, Jiangxi, and Fujian provinces. It is famous among linguists and sinologists as having one of the highest levels of internal diversity among the spoken Chinese language families.

Major Wu dialects include those of Shanghai, Suzhou, Ningbo, Wenzhou, Hangzhou, Shaoxing, Jinhua, Yongkang, and Quzhou.

Longtan Lake Park

Found on the edges of Shangrao city and as a backdrop and playground for those that stay in the very tranquil Longtan Hotel, Longtan Lake Park has found both my bike and sandals slowly circumnavigating its peaceful tree lined pathways on more than a few occasions.
