Jinggangshan, Jiangxi, China

Hey Hey and a Big G'Day Toya,

With its tree lined streets and misty mountain ranges, Jinggangshan is feted and mythologised by dewy eyed party cadres and propaganda departments China wide. In 1927 Chairman Mao led nine hundred men hereto be joined by Zhu De's battered forces. It was from these hills that Mao launched the legendary Long March to Shaanxi Province guaranteeing Jinggang Shan's conversion from mountain range to revolutionary cradle, communist monument and overrun tourist mecca (LP).

Baizhuyuan Site

Honestly, none of the three of us had any idea of what it was about before or after visiting it and even with two Chinese companions I still couldn't get an understanding about the Mexican Money on show. I did grasp that I guess China had some Mexian money/coins and once they stamped them with an H symbol they then became a cash flow that only Mao's forces could use...but the fact is that is the the small grasp we left with.

Strange when you have two Chinese uni students asking and also trying to figure out the story beind the Mexican money not only on display but with a huge one out front. I've just checked the internet and no matter what I 'in put' I get no results or imformation as to what this site is all about.

All I know is that Baizhuyuan is the 'locality' and that it was also the actual 'Mint' for the dispearcement of the actual Mexican Money that was supposedly used.

Dajing Village

Dajiing Village was my actual favourite site, simply because it was so peaceful and beautiful and I can understand why Mao chose to stay there. I spent most of the afternoon there visiting the village and then the Revolutionary Cemetary which was located in the hills behind the village.

A tiny village surrounded by lush green hills, a perfect afternoon even without the Mao stuff.
