Longnan County, Jiangxi, China

Hey Hey and a Big G'Day toya,

If it doesn't work out the first time;
Go back and try again!

As it was closed when i first tried to visit on my return journey from the Guanxi Fortress I figured that as I had already made a decision to stay a while here in Longnan (that decision was also reched due to meeting a lovely hotel maid) I figured as it was a beautiful day so why not grab a bus and give it another try.

Thankfully I did because it was so beautiful and after I had said my goodbyes I decided on walking all the way back to Longnan. After a peaceful walk and no beeping I somehow found the Hakka Rice Wine Fort. There I was just walking listening to Motley Crue on my MP3 and then I spotted spotted an overgrown parking lot through the trees. Me being Me simply couldn't walk past it so down I went and from there I found an entrace arch and then a small village and after following the river a short distance I spotted large 'structure' across the river.

It was big, it was whiteish, but the fact is, it was goddamn big!
I had actually never hear of it but was so happy when found it.

Yuzaitan Wei Fort

Found about ten kilometers from Longnan, Yuzaitan Wei in Xinli village features amazing examples of feng shui principles as well as continuing to demonste the art of the making fine traditional Hakka rice wine.

Facing the Lianjiang River and the Yuzaitan Pond, the complex with a history of more than two hundred years is situated between two hills. A bridge, named Feng Shui spans the Lianjiang River, and right above the Yuzaitan Pond it leads visitors to the entrance of the rectangular house.

With a length of fifty five meters and a width of forty five meters, it has four watchtowers that stand at a height of twelve meters while the southwestern corner watchtower stands at fifteen meters due to the farmhouse's southwestern being found near a stretch of once treacherous woods.

The owner of the farmhouse was a locally famous rice liquor maker who brewed many different kinds of Hakka rice wine which are made of glutinous rice and water from the pond in the farmhouse that have long been popular in the region that have a very light yet with a sweet aftertaste and all who taste it say that the it is more like a fresh soft drink than a wine.
