Huai'an, Jiangsu, China
Hey hey and a big good day to you
I hear you all want to know about Consort Prince Lane and how life is.
Are you sure as it is just a tiny little lane way?
Anyhow to answer your question on how is life, it is cold and it is getting really really really cold in fact colder and colder by the day which for me really really really sucks and if there is one thing in the world I hate more than pedophiles, racists, religion, war, drones, the desert, poverty, Kevin Costner movies, Kenny G, R&B, brusselsprouts, that stinky tofu you get from Chinese street stalls and warm beer and bad noodles is being cold.
I don't really like it when I get a puncture or when my peddle falls off my bike but I find I can live with that because it is better than being cold. Then again I also don't much like clowns either because they are scary little bastards and not nice to live with!
So there I was back at the beginning of the September when it was really really really hot and I was really really really happy to get out of bed each morning because it was not really really really cold and I was out on my first big ride after moving here to Huai'An city and about fifty minutes into it the road came to a tee intersection meaning, that I had to make a choice in which direction I should point my front wheel. I chose to point it right , off I sped and not long after a large pagoda came into view which of course made me extra really really really happy and my heart began to beat about as fast as my peddles were turning.
I just could not get there fast enough
When we did reach the pagoda I sadly found that it was part of a temple that was being renovated which sadly made it closed for the time being but with a happy heart and giddy feet I decided to continue in the same direction. When we turned to continue I found a city wall and its gate staring right at me which was really really really stupid because only the day prior I was told that there was nothing to see in the area I now lived but then again many Chinese seem to believe that if they were ride for fifty minutes they would end up in England or maybe South East Asia or that they could find themselves in Russia.
Or just wet if they rode in an easterly direction towards the east coast.
Since then Chuzhou city has become a majorish part of some of my bike riding here in Huai'An. I love all of its tiny ancient laneways, its back streets, side streets, old streets, new streets (mainly for the females found upon them) and of course the fact that it is like SnackadellicA heaven does not hurt a bit. Also the fact that there are several temples, a two thousand year old village, a Bell Tower and of course it is also where the author of journey to the west (Monkey King) is from and where he wrote much of the story.
Due to the above the Chuzhou area will be part of a number of my future blogs.
Each ride is a separate ride and all are wonderful.
So if you are a new reader then for future reference when you read a new blog of mine that has the name Chuzhou city in it I should tell you that Chuzhou city is part of Huai'An city but actually where I live is more part of Chuzhou city but because Chuzhou city is part of Huai'An city that makes where I live part of Huai'An city but Chuzhou city was once the main city and much bigger than Huai'An city but over time as the canals and rivers changed course or dried up Huai'An became Huayang city which then for some reason became Huai'An city again and I have been told that Huayang city still exists and is now part of Huai'An city just like where I live is part of Huai'An city but really part of Chuzhou city!
Got that?
No?
Chuzhou city was once the main city because the Grand Canal went through it so it became the main trading post where many people stopped for beers & noodles & a bed or if just rice wine they then past out in the gutter and most then continued to their destination (which was usually north towards Beijing) either by land or along the grand canal but the rice wine drinkers most probably continued the next part of their journey (in a south east direction towards the coast...lay of the land and all that) in the gutter even though it was probably in the wrong direction so when some of the rivers that helped connect the Grand Canal either dried up or changed course Chuzhou lost its charm and Huai'An city gained its charm and people said Oh my gawd how's that Huai'An city hey a pretty damn charming place so I think I will move there and then one day someone with self importance and the title of 'Rice Daddy' said Yo Yo Yo to those in the house followed by the words I think I will change this place to Huayang city and not long after another self important person with the title of Fifty Cent Noodles said Yo Yo Yo to those in the house I think that I will combine several of these little cities and make one big one and call it...um...
...let us change it back to Huai'An city and allow each of the old cities to continue to use their old names because that way there will be much less confusion than if we used only one name (?) because if we use three names then when people meet other people they can tell them they are from one of the three separate cities such as Chuzhou city and
The other who is asking and maybe from Beijing will ask where it is
Um, it is east of west Chuzhou and south of north Chuzhou.
Mr Beijing will then ask, Oh is it anywhere near Huai'An?
Mr Chuzhou will then take him to South Park and
KICK HIM IN THE NUTS!
Consort Prince Lane
Since I cannot find any details on the Chuzhou city walls I thought I would add a little bit of history on what is known as Consort Prince Lane which is an ancient alley in the northwest corner of the city. Yes the one you were all asking about. Supposedly after becoming the emperor during the Ming Dynasty 'Zhu Yuanzhang' made his nephew 'Wujiao Qingyang' prince and also made his buddy Huang Bao the Commandant Escort and gave him the name Huang Chen which means the 'son in law of the emperor'. Consort Prince Lane was originally named Wang Xian Lane but was renamed Consort Prince Lane around the same time Huang Bao became Huang Chen but during the year of our Lord 2014 it was once again renamed;
This time to the name SnackadellicA Lane by none other than myself;
Consort Prince Eddakath!
So there you have it because I have known for some time that all of you were just dying to ask me all about Consort Prince Lane. I could see it in your eyes and for those who have no idea what I'm talking about it is the ancient lane in the photos that has the grey brick buildings and the little market and food stalls.
Beers N Noodles toya.....shane

The soundtrack to this entry was by Prince
The album was 'Symbol'.
For those who are not Prince fans continue reading below.
The soundtrack to this entry was by an entity that made music without a name and the album was a music cd that also had no name just like the entity who recorded it. The CD cover though had a little symbolly thing on it which is why it became known
as 'Symbol' and even though the entity who recorded it had dethroned himself
and took away his name for that which to be known everyone still knew exactly
who he was. Therefore all still held him upon the throne of music and continued
to address him by the 'P' word but;
Ssshhhh do not tell his old record label that.
I think they are still looking for him and wondering who the new 'P' guy is.
