The beauty of this Island cant be denied. But you'll either love it or hate it. Everyone will undoubtedly love pulling into its turquoise blue water and view its powder white sand beaches. But the Hundreds of tourists, yes, I will call them tourists, getting off that crowded ferry with their roller board luggage will raise an eyebrow if maybe you took a wrong turn and ended up in Koh Samui? No, you have landed on the beautiful Island of Ko Phi Phi, the island with the funny name and the tremendous story of survival of rebuilding ( maybe a little too much ) after its tragic destruction in the Tsunami of 1995. This island has bounced back and rebuilt, and is more popular than ever, It also happens to be one of my favorite islands. And one of the main reasons is its one of the most beautiful places Ive ever seen, minus all the souvenir shops and loud reggae bars, but that's just in town, the secret is as soon as you arrive, hit the ATM and get out of there. Take a long tail boat to the other side, and there you ll find your paradise. Mine happens to be once again staying at the Viking Resort, a short 10 minute long tail boat ride from the ferry, a place that is as unique as they come, wood and bamboo carved tree houses built into the jungle all different and unique, they will make you feel like you've stepped into a Robinson Crusoe Book.
My bungalow is one of the newer ones since my last visit for Sara's Bday 2 years ago, and it has a a hammock with a few and lots of privacy and a unique bathroom with a sink carved in a large stone
. My deck has lots of shell mobiles that chime in the wind and beautiful view of the ocean just steps away.
The staff can be a little indifferent depending on their mood and how many picky, unexpected guests visiting here for the first time cant understand why paying over $100 a night and not get hot water or airconditoning? some of the rooms are actually houses, sleeping 6-8 people, they re huge! I got a great deal of $40 a night which is tough to find in this town. So as I'm checking in, the lady boy working the desk with a shirt on that reads" I break all your hearts" lets me know right off that i have no hot water in my room, yes I know that i say with a smile, I've been here before :)
Ive been enjoying just staying in my own little world here at the Viking. only leaving that once to spend the night on the island. This place has free wireless, which works from my hammock a great restaurant that has nice , mellow music and lots of candles and handmade lanterns lit up at night, what else could you possibly need?
But more islands to discover and love, so off I go tomorrow to my next place, Koh Ngai, Only two ferry rides away.

Elizabeth, this looks like my kind of place. I think I'll have to make this my next trip. I'll attempt to print this information for my future travel file.

Mom - I want to decorate my house one day with all of your pictures! They are great! And no hot water for you says the lady man? I am laughing out loud in the library at school! Love you! xoxo
