After a terrible nights sleep (I had accidentally turned the ac OFF) I got up at 5.30 and went into the street to watch the passing parade of scooters, moto's, bikes and cars going to work. The street we are on, Ly Thu Truong is motorcycle central. Shops line the street and bikes for sale are parked everywhere. People dissemble motors and clean parts on the footpath. The hotel provides breakfast free and I had Pho for the first time, Pho Ga which is basically chicken soup. Tip, be careful of the chili's they provide in a small dish, they are powerful!
Went for a walk to Ben Than market, a huge building housing multitudes of vendors selling everything from fake watches to bags, trendy crash helmets for the bike people, shoes, clothes and much more
. I was looking for some simple flip flops as my new shoes were rubbing on my foot. One woman jumped out and grabbed my arm and started talking non stop and said she had the shoes for me. I went with her into her stall, she was so flirtatious and over the top I wanted to see what she would say. All the time she was talking to me she was fondling my breast, yes I'm male and she was holding me and squeezing it. She sat me down and I looked out and saw Marley and Sally getting impatient so I tried to hurry her up. She had no shoes and said, I will get shoes after you buy shirt. So I escaped.
We then went to the War Remnants Museum as It is called. Some huge machines of war in the courtyard, a Chinook a F-5 fighter, numerous American tanks and numerous examples of the armaments dropped on the Vietnamese during the American War, as they call it.
Still extremely humid and I was flagging so we returned home for a refresh and then down to near the river in Dong Khoi street near the Grand Hotel. Nice meal on the balcony overlooking the street, which is always entertaining. A young girl was selling post cards and she did an amazing job from ground level as I was sucked into buying some which I intended on doing anyway. Expect your cards in the mail in near future.
