Trip to Hue

Hue, Vietnam
Up early and out looking for breakfast and massage. Passing the Christian church I saw that it was packed. They have certainly made inroads here. The sign outside gave a quote, in Vietnamese, from Tim.O.The - 3:16 I think it was.
No Pho today, bad mistake, tried fried eggs and they were oily .
Back to hotel to wait for taxi man Ba who was driving us to Hue along the coast road. Scenic drive over some huge mountains and the usual driving on the wrong side of the road tricks, including talking on the phone while going up twisty ascents. Lucky it was Sunday and the traffic light. Beautiful views from the high points. We stopped at a little cafe for a pee and a drink and the view from the ammonia reeking pissoir was spectacular. The eye watering smell didn't make you want to stay and enjoy it though.
The roads here seem so anarchic but I've rarely felt endangered and there is a distinct lack of police patrol cars or bikes. When we reached the cafe at the top of the climb there was a police motorbike and of all things a police tip truck outside the cafe, but no police. I had a look around with no success, hmmm.
As we got closer to Hue the temperature climbed to 35C and now at 6pm its still 30 or above and high humidity, my room overlooks the Perfume river and towards the old citadel which we are visiting in the next day or so. Very heavily laden shallow draft fishing boats ply their trade back and forth on the river as I watch, we may be hiring one to get about tomorrow.
