Hue, Vietnam
First a clarificatio, Viettel do work on Sundays, it was just a failure of communications between me and the girl at Circle K. What she was saying was that they don't sell simcards of any type anymore. I had to wait till I got to Hue to get one. The receptionist in my hotel took me down the street and I finally got a card.
Secondly, never pay for airport transfer, it's a rip off . The taxi this morning was 130,000 compared to the hotels price of 550,000. Same at Hue airport, I caught a cab which cost 240,000 a lot cheaper than the hotels price and we had to do a bit of back and forth as I couldnt remember where the hotel was.
The receptionists name is Carefree but her real name is Chanh which means Carefree anyway. The boss man made them all change their names for the westerners.
I hired a scooter and made a beeline for the DMZ bar where I had two mugs of Vietnamese coffee so I was buzzing. While I sat there I saw a family arguing with a cyclo driver, which reminded me of past incidents with these desperados. If you want an argument get a cyclo without making arrangements first and even then it's dicy.
Went to Ushi for dinner where I went with Sista and Bro in law last tiem. Braised duck, what a luxury. Everyone raves about Hoi An food but Hue is better. Anthony Bourdain said so!
