Ox tongues and Ox tails

Hoi An, Vietnam
This morning Nick decided he wanted to go back to a plaace where he had Oxtails in a previous visit. Its in the laneway near BaLe Well resto opposite the museum When we got there we found tongues AND tails were on the menu, bonanza! The choice was one or the other but we went for both. I'm not sure if its actually oxtail aas I found a small knuckle bone in mine. The bones in the broth are covered with a soft gristly clear meat. Not sure what it is, not meat and not fat, maybe gristle but boiled so long it's soft. The tongue is just meat, sliced. It came with noodles of course and was very good. A few nights ago I saw a woman spitting out bits of bone onto the floor of a resto and decided "when in Rome do as the Romans do" so I'm a spitting on the footpath type now. Gross? Maybe.
This afternoon we went down to Cua Dai lighthouse in a fruitless search for Thams mum . She lives there in a tiny house and ekes out a living selling coffee. We asked around but none of the women there seemd to know her. At a certain age the women turn off listening to you when you ask a question unless you can phrase it in good Vietnamese, they just aren't interested in stupid westerners asking stupid questions.
Nick went off to Sports Bar and I headed to the Indian place for curry. Got 333 on the way home and Haribo Goldbears and I am being a pig drinking beer and eating lollies.
