A quick scooter trip to Cam Kim island to see the carpentry village today. We had been there before on previous trips but never managed to find the village itself. This time we succeeded but it was slightly disappointing as the carpentry seemed to be a few carved toys, cars, and trucks mainly and many carry bags
which although attractive had nothing to do with carpentry.
The most interesting thing we saw were the kilns
and my desultory research turned up that they were brick kilns which I doubt very much. They were far too small inside to have been used for burning bricks and I would think they were for ceramics of some kind. The extensive use of concrete suggests they were not ancient, perhaps part of the French occupation.
Tonight we went to what I cal Mien Ga which is basically chicken noodles soup but with very fine beautifully tasting noodles. Nick likes chili and you can see from the photos
how much he likes it. My friend Paul is a big fan of chilis too and he has missed out badly not being here in chili central.
Near the Mien Ga place the children were practicing for the next full moon dances which involves a lot of drumming and dancing, people came to watch them practice which surprised me, they take it very seriously.

I like the kilns. Ruby would like one for her ceramic work. Hot chilli city looks hot!
