Om een beetje te wennen aan de hoogte (2800 meter) gaat alles ietsje rustiger aan. Even te snel lopen of iets te fanatiek de trap op wordt direct afgestraft. Zoals ik eerder meldde veel pleintjes (plazas) en kerken (iglesias) bezocht. De meest spectaculaire kerk was de basiliek. Via allerlei trappen en steile ladders kon je over de gewelven lopen en tot in de nok komen. Dit leverde een mooi uitzicht op over Quito. Eveneens het presidentieel paleis bezocht. Ook nog panechillo bezocht. Dat is een groot beeld van een engel (als ik het goed heb). Aangezien dit beeld op een heuvel staat, levert dit ook een mooi uitzicht op over Quito. In de taxi in mijn beste Spaans (poco, poco) gesocialized met de chauffeur. Holanda blijkt muy caro (duur) te zijn en Ecuador muy barata (goedkoop). Alleen het afpingelen van de ritprijs lukte nog niet best....

Op het einde van de dag ook nog een sjamaan (een soort van indiaanse medicijnman bezocht) . Aangezien ik zeker niet in dit soort dingen geloof was het toch wel bijzonder. Hij wist dingen te vertellen die hij zeker niet wist. Zijn ritueel ging gepaard met het spugen van een vloeistof (met veel alcohol) in mijn gezicht en wat vuur. Heb echter alles zelf niet gezien, omdat ik gedurende het ritueel mijn ogen gesloten moest houden. De goede man deed tenslotte 2 conclusies: 1. ik heb op mijn linkerhand een dubbele levenslijn wat duidt op spirituele gaven en 2. in een periode van 6 tot 11 jaar wordt ik enorm rijk! Onbekend is of dit volgens Nederlandse of Ecuadoriaanse begrippen is....

To get used to the altitude (2800 metres) everything goes slower than normal. Walking to fast or climbing stairs to fanatic (sporty) is punished immediately. As reported earlier I saw many squares (plazas) and churches (iglesias). The most spectacular one was the basilic (cathedral) . Through various stairs (some very steep) it was possible to see everything from the basilic. It resulted in a nice view over Quito. Also visited the presidential palace and panechillo. The last thing is a big statue of an angel (please correct me if I am wrong). In a taxi I socialized in my best Spanish (poco, poco) with the driver Finally he concluded that Holanda is muy caro (expensive ) and Ecuador muy barata (cheap). Only getting a lower price for the taxi ride did not succeed.....

At the end of the day I visited a shaman (an indian medicin man). As I do not believe in these kind of things it was very special. He told me things about me he could not know. During his rite he spitted a fluid containing alcohol in my face and also used fire. Unfortunately I did not see what he exactly did as I had to close my eyes during the rite. Finally he told me two things: 1. on my left hand I have a double life line (this means that I should have spiritual gifts) and 2. between 6 and 11 years I will get rich.Unknown is if this is according Dutch or Ecuadorian definitions....
