A little bit of Irish!

Port Douglas, Queensland, Australia

18th ~ 21st July

Another four day stay, this time with Tom in a swag under our awning, our boys are making a habit of this. We picked Tom up at Cairns Airport at about 10:30am and drove north to Point Douglas. This place is full, and many southerners bring their caravan/motorhome etc up here for 3 - 4 months over winter. Fortunately we had a friend who does just that, for the past 17 years, so Bazza secured the very last site for four days, thanks Bazza.

Tom stood in awe as Team Richmond swung into gear to set up the campsite, about 15 minutes, and we settled into a welcome drink and light lunch. The Irish folk were sightseeing, so we went for a walk around the town, which has changed a lot in the past 9 years since we were last here.

This is a travel blog, not a family reunion story, so we'll just say that over the next 3 days we had the best tome with our new Irish mates and look forward to seeing them in Ireland in 2014.

Hit the Daintree, Cape Tribulation and Mossman Gorge and enjoyed the time we got to spend with Tom. He and I found the best business in Australia....the ferry which runs 200 metres across the river to Cape Tribulation....big sign gives the prices and declares very clearly "CASH ONLY". We had to wait till the 3rd ferry to get on, and the alternative is a 170klm detour!
