Today we went back to see Keith. The boatyard is about 500 m from here. Walking along the road my "sea legs" are still playing tricks and I feel like drunk, the ground keeps moving under my feet...Keith was a farmer in New Zealand who is now in Rarotonga, repairing about anything. His place looks more like a boat graveyard and he welcomed us saying: "look around and see if you find what you need". We did, going through tons of stuff, masts, booms, sails and boat carcasses. We think we found what we need. Then came the bargaining.
-"how much Keith for this mast in 3 pieces, this old wooden boom and these 2 sails that we found buried under the grass?"
-"how much do you want to pay?"
-"errr
...6000?"
-"no way" he said.
-"...so..."
-"too much"
-"!?..."
-"4500 is enough. I get my profit but I also help you. Come back tomorrow, use my tools and equipment to get you sorted".
-"deal!"
It lifts our moral up to meet someone nice like him. At least a week of hard work ahead.
