4/5th's Of The Way, International
Happy Birthday Marc! If the situation was different, Marj could be telling her story of that one day 47 years ago – actually she told it to me this morning! Not much going on today. We booked a couple of excursions for our stops at Funchal, Portugal and Cadiz, Spain. We'll talk about those later. It's another nice day with a temperature in the upper 60's F.

We attended two talks today . One was a seafaring talk entitled Pandora's Box having to do with Captain Bligh, Mutiny on the Bounty, and a ship called the Pandora. The speaker knows a lot of sea history and does a nice job of weaving stories together. The second talk was given by a ship's officer who discussed navigational crew and procedures, and features of the ship. It was interesting to learn this ship was the first built in its class, built for world cruises, and therefor built for speed and endurance. It has five 16 cylinder engines (now running two) for a total of 77,000 horsepower. As a fast cruise ship this one is second to only the QE-2(?) - he said we can outrun present day pirate ships.

Dinner tonight is gala formal dress and we've arranged to dine at La Cirque. This is a French dinner presented once during the cruise at one of the specialty restaurants
