Land ho???

At Sea, Nova Scotia, Canada
For the last couple of days we have been assuming that we aren't just doing big donuts in the ocean and are instead steaming towards the USA. Today is the last day of the Atlantic crossing, so tomorrow we should wake to see land.

Zumba was again cancelled due to instructor illness . While not the best thing in the world, it worked out ok as today the choir were giving their sector performance and as is usually the case, there was a mid morning last minute practice to make sure people knew what they were supposed to be doing.

In a nice change and due to the performance happening in the atrium, the uniform for the choir was not its usual black and white, but instead was bright colours. Mum outdid herself with the bright orange/salmon coloured shorts she wore. The choir sounded fine, however I don’t think the acoustics of the atrium did them justice – unlike the theatre where flat/sharp notes can be hidden, the echo of the atrium just made it more pronounced.

Once again it was 'everything must go’ day at Bingo and having won my ticket last night, I was hoping that the luck would continue. It didn’t. That said unlike last time when there was a three way tie, this time the $2500 jackpot went to a single person.

The rest of our time was spent making sure the ship knew that we were temporarily leaving the ship in Boston and re-joining in New York – something we had arranged in October last year. This took a couple of visits to the customer service people (as well as letting the head waiter and our waiter know, as well our cabin steward). Fingers crossed the right and left hands have finally got the message and that tomorrow afternoon when the ship is supposed to leave Boston, our names are not called out as missing passengers…

Fun fact:
Fun fact for the day bought to you by Wikipedia (again).

The principal feature of the bottom topography is a submarine mountain range called the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. It extends from Iceland in the north to approximately 58° South latitude, reaching a maximum width of about 860 nautical miles (1,590 km; 990 mi).
